About Me

Melissa Buell is a dedicated special education advocate and teacher located in Westchester County, New York.

She has a passion for empowering students and supporting families who are navigating learning challenges.

With a graduate degree in Education from Dominican University of California, Melissa is dual credentialed in Special Education and Multiple Subjects, bringing both expertise and empathy to her work.

Throughout her career, Melissa has tutored countless students with dyslexia, using structured, sequential, and research-based instruction that is direct, explicit, and proven to help struggling readers make meaningful progress. She has been formally trained in structured literacy and stays up to date with the latest research on dyslexia, ensuring that her methods are rooted in best practice.

Beyond working directly with students, Melissa helps parents and teachers separate myths from facts about dyslexia, bridging the gap between research and practice to foster deeper understanding. She also provides summer intensive reading interventions (both digitally and in person), to give struggling readers the tools and confidence they need to thrive.

*MISSION: I aim to ensure that every child, no matter their learning difference, has access to the support, strategies, and encouragement they need to succeed.
